■The concept film of the film festival
“eatrip”
*All screenings of “eatrip” are with English subtitles.
-Contemporary Japanese food culture documentary-
http://www.eatripfilm.com/
With “Eating and Living: A Lifetime’s Journey” as the theme, food director Nomura Yuri explores and traces the meaning of food. Food, and its relationship with people, is presented in the form of a film.
(Food from the film / Food with lasting impression)
”Stewed whole chicken with lemon and green sauce”
*details
“eatrip” was presented in the Documentaries of the World section of the Montreal World Film Festival 2009, the Vancouver International Film Festival 2009,
Le Festival International du Film d’Environnement 2009 (Paris),
and Barcelona Asian Film Festival 2010.
“eatrip” is the directorial debut of food coordinator, creator and teacher, Yuri Nomura.
“eatrip” explores the interpersonal relationships that food nurtures. To eat is a universal experience and this documentary takes the audience on a journey throughout Japan looking at how life can be led optimally through the daily ritual of eating. From the Tsukiji fish market to an Okinawan farm, the film offers poignant interviews with intriguing personalities, a few of whom include: Nichiji Sakai, head monk of the Ikegami Honmonji temple; Kanji Takahashi, a distributor of Japanese soup stock (Bonito broth); Naoko Morioka, an Okinawan leading a self-sustainable lifestyle; So-oku Sen a tea ceremony master and descendant of famed Sen No Rikyu; and Yayako Uchida, a musician and writer who recites poems about food.
“eatrip” culminates with a passionate meal cooked by the director herself, for actor Tadanobu Asano and singer UA and a handful of other eclectic guests.

Screening “Open door policy”
We continue to work toward an open door policy for all movie screenings of the eatrip project. People are commonly connected to food. We would like to try different things to make it easy for all to attend our movie screenings.
About “Special Movie Screenings for Moms”
Such events are designed especially for mothers with children.
No worries, if your kids cry or chat during the screening. Our aim is for you to be able to enjoy the movies with your kids.
Focusing on mothers, “eatrip”, a film that explores original relationship between “food” and “people”, extends its support to all mothers.
* The place of screening will be lighted up slightly.
* Rody will make an appearance at the event.
* For all events of “Special Movie Screenings for Moms”, if you bring 2 mom friends along, each one of you will be able to attend the event for only 1,000 Yen.
About “Special Movie Screenings with Audio Guidance”
For those who are visually impaired, the screening site is equipped with audio guidance that can broadcast explanations simultaneously during the movie showing over radio waves. So, if you bring a FM radio receiver along, you will be able to “watch” and enjoy the movie with the rest in the same theater room.
* A portion of the sale receipts from the collaboration product, “eatrip picnic bag”, will go to funding for the production cost of audio guidance in relation to the film.
(All screenings of “eatrip” with English subtitles)
Due to the interest and attention the film, “eatrip”, has been receiving from abroad, all screenings of “eatrip” are shown with English subtitles.
